Are you planning to apply for Australia’s Work and Holiday Visa (Subclass 462) from India? If so, you’ll need to be aware of the new pre-application (ballot) process that the Australian government is implementing for the 2024-25 program year.

Due to the high demand for Work and Holiday visas from India, Australia will introduce a visa pre-application (ballot) process with a AUD 25 registration fee. This ballot aims to provide an equitable, streamlined, and transparent means of randomly selecting applicants when the number of registrations significantly exceeds the available places.

Here’s what you need to know about the new ballot system:

Registrations for the first Work and Holiday visa ballots for India will open later in 2024. The Department of Home Affairs will publish further information, including the registration open periods for each country.

The ballot is an electronic random selection process. Selected entrants will be invited to apply for a first Work and Holidays visa online.

The AUD 25 ballot registration fee is in addition to the Visa Application Charge of AUD 635 for the Work and Holiday visa.

The pre-application process will only apply to first Work and Holidays visa applicants from India Only. Nationals from this country already granted a first Works and Holiday visa can continue applying for a second or third visa online via ImmiAccount.

Stay tuned for more updates from the Australian government regarding the specific registration periods and any additional information about the new pre-application process for the Work and Holidays Visa (Subclass 462) from India.
